:D
Hi !
I know this project from the last week, I was make a few tests with him and I like him.
From the begin, I see just a big problem: He 'eat' many resource of computer.
Another problem is that his worlds and avatars are hard to make them by an amateur on graphic design.
I wrote about this VR server on a few forums, and I will write also on my forum about him.
I like his worlds, and his avatars. And I can say that is a smart application, I like his map orientation, is a good ideea to have a map of world. Also his sounds are great.
* He has a very good rendering, by high quality, but I repeat, he 'eat' a lotof resource of computer, over 40%.
* Another good point of him is that he accept many instances of chat window.

About my computer:
IntelDualCore 2.2GHz
Radeon Sapphire 1555 with 512MB
2GB RAM
500GB HDD

Speed of my internet connection is 5MB ps

** If is possible, I want to test also his editor, from where I can get it ? **

:P

hello tutancamon,

thanks for your kind words on VRC ;-)
indeed, the vrc client consumes some cpu resources when its window is not minimized. most of the cpu usage is related to graphics part of vrc, as it has much 3d data to process. however, when you minimize the vrc client window, then the cpu usage drops below 1% and allows to run vrc in background without bothering your other applications.

regarding to making own avatars and worlds:

1) for modelling avatars and animations for them you can use something like blender or 3ds max, or even mayer. the underlying library we use for character animation is Cal3d and there are Cal3d exporters for a lot of 3d modelling packages.

2) modelling static world assets can also be done in your favorite modelling package and export them to OSG (OpenSceneGraph) format. there are also osg exporters for common modelling packages such as blender, 3ds max, etc.

for designing a level, you can use the new vrc editor which allow placing your 3d assets and parametrizing all your objects (entities) online, i.e. you see immediately the effect of changes.

i will prepare a win32 package for the editor and post a link to it, so you can try the editor yourself.

cheers
boto

ThankYou BOSS !
I have allready downloaded, dev-libs series 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.8 2.0 2.1 2.2 ;)
I will look on these archives for plugin exporters in 'CAL3D' and 'OSG' ...
I wait to se and try the editor of VRC.

Here are twoo forums where I wrote about VRC:
http://www.web3d-fr.com/foroum/index.php?showtopic=5009
http://closed.forumactif.com/3d-faq-and ... -t2500.htm

I will write also on my forum.

If is so easy to make scenes and avatars for VRC, maybe a pro-VRC mouvement will be created on world builders community :P

http://www.openscenegraph.org for osg exporters

https://gna.org/projects/cal3d for cal3d character animation exporter
